Beach Safety Tips

Brought to you by the Albanian Lifesaving Federation
Your trusted guide for safe and enjoyable beach experiences.

🚨 Beach Safety Tips

Whether you’re swimming, sunbathing, or just strolling by the water, safety always comes first:

  • Always swim between the flags where lifeguards are present.
  • Check the flag system before entering the water:

          🟢 Green: Safe to swim

          🟡 Yellow: Swim with caution

          🔴 Red: Swimming prohibited

Never swim alone, especially in remote areas or at night.
Obey lifeguards’ instructions—they are trained to protect you.

🌊 Drowning Prevention

Small decisions save lives:

  • Avoid alcohol before swimming.
  • Don’t overestimate your swimming abilities.
  • Watch out for rip currents: If caught, swim parallel to the shore, not against the current.
  • Keep an eye on children—always within arm’s reach.
  • Use lifejackets for non-swimmers or during water activities like boating or paddleboarding.
☀️ Sun & Heat Safety

Stay protected while enjoying the sun:

  • Apply sunscreen (SPF 30+) every two hours.
  • Wear a hat, sunglasses, and UV-protective clothing.
  • Hydrate—drink plenty of water, especially on hot days.
  • Take breaks in the shade during peak hours (11 AM – 4 PM).
  • Watch for signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, nausea, or heavy sweating.
